Special Matinee Performances for Students of German

For the eigth year, our Northern Illinois AATG Chapter has made arrangements with the Bailiwick Theater for a special matinee performance of the Christmas Schooner.

John Reeger and Julie Shannon's musical, The Christmas Schooner is based on the true story of a Great Lakes schooner captain who risks life and limb to transport fir trees from Michigan's Upper Peninsula to Chicago's German immigrants, homesick for their beloved "Tannenbaums." The musical provides a welcome change from the usual Dicken's classic. Its focus on the importance of family and the simple traditions of childhood contrasts refreshingly with the rampant consumerism surrounding many of our current holiday celebrations.

Preliminary reservations will be taken by email and over the phone and, but final confirmation is based on receipt of payment for the tickets. The production is always well received by teachers and students alike. Tickets are $19. Please contact John Paluch immediately if you are interested in bringing a group: 847-491-8081 or by email paluch@northwestern.edu.
